When obtaining new pieces of equipment or looting Dungeon Passes, you will sometimes find items with a glow around them. And when you mouse over these glowing items, you will see the word "Echoes" along with some lines of text. Echoes are stats that have been added to the item ''on top of'' whatever Stats they already have, with the current maximum number of echo lines any one item can have being 5.

While the maximum number of echo lines on both equipment and dungeon passes is 5, it is still possible for items to have 0. Sometimes this is because the item is simply not allowed to have echoes, like in the case of grappling hooks. Most of the time however, it's because the number of echoes on an item is always randomly generated from between 0 to 5. Furthermore, the type of these lines and the quality of these lines are also randomly generated from a predetermined list. The types of echoes you can roll on a hat, are different from those you can roll on a bag. The glow around an item's appearance, as well as the color of the item's text, is directly related to the number of echo lines it has and the quality of these lines.

If the symbol next to the line is Gray, then that means the amount of additional stats you're getting from it is a lot lower than it could be.

If the symbol is Ruby (Red), then that means you rolled near to, if not literally, the maximum possible of additional stats for that line!

*It is worth noting that the maximum value of an Echoes line is determined by item level. Low level Ruby (red) Echoes lines will likely be weaker than even Gray Echoes lines on endgame gear.
