When opening the Equipment window, the items on the left side (Hat, Body, Accessory, Effect) have upgrade slots while the items on the right side (Ammo, Grapple, Backpack) do not. Items with upgrade slots can be improved by using Upgrade Gems, which have a 100%(Green) / 60%(Blue) / 10%(Red) chance to succeed in upgrading the item with better stats. Even if the Upgrade Gem fails the item's upgrade slot will be taken up, so good luck!

Click to show / hide items Here you can wear a hat that will display on top of your head.

Body slot

Click to show / hide items Here you can wear a robe that will change the look of your character.

Robe

Accessory slot

Click to show / hide items Here you can wear a bonus accessory that may have special properties.

Effect slot

Click to show / hide items Here you can wear an effect that appears behind your character.

Ammo slot

Click to show / hide items Here you can store ammo to be used by various skills.

Grapple Slot

Click to show / hide items Here you can store a grappling hook to help you navigate the world.

Backpack

Click to show / hide items Here you can store a backpack to give you more inventory space.
