Essences are a widely used material across many systems in Soul's Remnant. You need them to learn and level up most combat skills, they're a part of several crafting recipes, and there's even a section within Alchemy entirely dedicated in changing essences into lower or higher tier versions of themselves! You will almost inevitably run through hundreds if not thousands of essences no matter what areas of the game you focus on or skip, so we've made a handy list of what maps drop what essences.
But first, Research Essences and Dungeon Essences! Which are technically not what was being talked about above!
But First
We'll keep this short:
Research Essences are dropped by monsters and gathering material, and they are used to level up and fill in the Research Window [B]. Check the Research page for more info.
And while Dungeon Essences were already described within the Dungeons page, it wouldn't feel right to not have a little section here dedicated to them :)
After successfully clearing the Boss Room in a Dungeon and opening your Boss Chest, you will obtain two types of essence: Generic and Dungeon Specific. You can take the Generic Dungeon Essence to the NPC under the bridge at Spawn and the Dungeon Specific Essence to the relevant shopkeeper in order to buy their wares. One particularly nice piece of equipment they sell is the Void Bag, the largest backpack available in Soul's Remnant!
Where to Find
Speaking of Dungeons, you don't only get Dungeon Essences from them. Boss Chests and Loot Rooms regularly drop a wide selection of essences for you! So if you have a need for more essences, it might be a good idea to do some Dungeon runs.
Regardless, here are the wheres and whats of essence drops!
Please keep in mind that the type of essence a monster drops is determined by the map, not the monster itself.
