Skill Name: Taming

Skill Type: Life

Cost:

Description:
"Allows you to tame monsters. Use to open the taming menu."

About

Taming allows you to befriend monsters that can help you fight. Taming costs no skill points or soul crystals to learn and as such cannot be learned from the skill menu. Instead, this skill is obtained by dropping a Monster Candy on the ground next to a Slime for it to eat. You can have multiple monsters tamed at the same time and they can each be given a name.

A tamed monster will randomly have one of four traits.

Tough -

Needy -

Shy - Causes the monster to run away from enemies.

None

Tamed monsters will constantly lose hunger while summoned and will need to be fed or they will die. You can unsummon them at any time while not in combat from the taming menu which will cause they hunger meter to be paused. They also have a health meter which can be refilled by feeding it, or giving it potions. Some food can increase the monster's stats. They can also learn the skills Revitalize and Frost by being fed the corresponding skill books.

Each monster requires a certain Taming level which is outlined in the table below. You get 1 EXP each time your tamed monster deals damage, regardless of how much damage and 4 EXP each time it eats food.

Tips and Tricks

  • Due to requiring Monster Candy, it's best to pursue this after you already have Alchemy and Cooking.
  • A high health pet such as Cat Golem or Soulfish can be used level up Medishot quickly as the skill EXP gained is based on the amount of health healed.
