The maps they appear in are completely safe, or should I say completely sequestered, during the day. Appearing only at night, these creatures claim dominance over some of the furthest reaches in Soul's Remnant, and can easily one shot most players.

And if they are not defeated by sunrise, they disappear without dropping a single item for any nighttime combatants.

These enemies are not to be underestimated. But they can be conquered.

Should one be defeated, a substantial amount of Player EXP is divvied out, and many Gems and Souls are scattered across the ground upon their defeat as well.

Pyramid

Chompy can freely shift their state of matter, and uses that for their attack patterns: Seeking Chomps, Tired Chomps, and Mini Seekers.

When performing Seeking Chomps, they will regularly meld with the sand and not only become immune to damage but disappear from view as well. After less than a second passes, they will reappear right on top of its chosen player before stretching and then contracting and even liquefying their body to perform a powerful chomp. Right after Chompy attacks, they will meld with the sand once more and repeat this a few times. They can be damaged when they can be seen, so prepare to not only dodge but to attack right after dodging.

If you can coordinate with others and manage to stay stacked, moving to dodge in the same direction, this fight becomes much less hectic!

After they attack like this a few times, they will become tired and start to use Tired Chomps. They will still disappear and chomp, but after chomping they will now linger on the field for a few seconds in between Tired Chomps. It will take a few cycles for them to get their energy back, so make the most of their exhaustion and do your best DPS before they go back from Tired Chomps to Seeking Chomps!

At certain HP thresholds, regardless of what type of Chomps they are doing, Chompy will switch to the Mini Seekers pattern.

Chompy will disperse into several little ghosts, who will fly and rotate around the map while shooting projectiles at their target. These ghosts are much easier to kill, but any damage they take does not affect Chompy's health bar.

Thankfully there's a quick way to end the Mini Seekers attack pattern. One of the ghosts is the "anchor", and upon killing the anchor a unique sound effect will play before all other ghosts are dissipated and Chompy returns to do Seeking Chomps.

Giant Tree

Click to show / hide The Scythe Reaper!

This boss has the simplest attack pattern of the lot, the Harrowing Harvest, and it's one of the hardest hitting attacks in Soul's Remnant to make up for it.

Every three or so seconds, the Scythe Reaper will do a devastating horizontal swing that can and will deal more than 1,000 damage to everyone it hits and cuts down!

If you can slow your personal DPS to avoid aggro right before they swing, the battle should be manageable for you.

If you're willing to risk it you can save your movement ability to dodge the attack, and if you have enough JMP you might even be able to simply jump over the attack if you time things right!

Great Trench

Click to show / hide The Reaperfish!

Reaperfish will ignore terrain and constantly be charging in the direction of their target with Ravenous Charge, and will occasionally whip themself into a frenzy and speed up the frequency of their attacks.

They "only" ever do Ravenous Charge, but that has been more than enough to skewer plenty of meals onto their teeth!

Throughout the fight, hungry Mini Reaperfish will also appear, staying stationary as they shoot projectiles. These little guys can be killed, so don't ignore them!

Reaperfish is so large, and attacks so frequently and charges so far, that it can be hard to avoid their attacks even when trying your best to do so. That, along with the Mini Reaperfish shooting their projectiles, makes this into a potentially very dangerous battle. Make the most of the underwater arena, and save your double jump for when its needed. Remember, you can hold your jump key when underwater to gain quite a bit of vertical distance.

Deep Caves

Click to show / hide The Puppet Reaper, aka Pea!

If night falls while you're in the Deep Caves, you may suddenly find that the music has stopped and that the portals are gone. When that happens, don't be surprised when you see this little guy walking towards you.

Don't let their appearance fool you. Once it finally sees you, it quickly morphs into its true and multitudinous form and begin its attempt on your life!

This encounter has two parts to it: the hand, and the Ghost Puppets. The hand deals contact damage but moves rather slow, meanwhile the Ghost Puppets can fly and ignore terrain as they shoot a spray of projectiles. In order to defeat this boss, you must reduce the hand's HP to zero. In the process of doing so, you will be killing every Ghost Puppet as well.

This is because the hand doesn't take any damage while even one Ghost Puppet lives, and Ghost Puppets don't take damage if they're near the hand.

But it's not as dire as it may seem. Something that is not depicted in the images here is that there will be strings connecting the Ghost Puppets to the hand. Once the Ghost Puppets are dragged far enough away to be dealt damage, the strings will turn from white to red to signal that it's time to lay on the hurt!

So what you must do is find a way to separate the Ghost Puppets from the hand. The most common method is to divide the group into three roles: hand holding aggro, Ghost Puppet killing, and Ghost Puppet wrangling.

The Ghost Puppets need to constantly be dealt damage, or they will try and return to the hand. And due to the way aggro works, Ghost Puppets are liable to switch targets and move around a lot if the group is not stacked together. So try to stay near each other, and try to have at least one player with large or far-reaching skills to wrangle any Ghost Puppets that lose interest and try to go back to the hand.

With good use of terrain, a strong enough player can even solo Pea! But maybe hold yourself back from trying it that way until you're a lot stronger.

After the hand has finally been defeated, Pea will revert back to its initial form and run to the nearest corner with tears in its eyes.

Show it no mercy. It is an attempt to pull on your heartstrings and rob you of your rewards by waiting for daytime.
