Attributes
Every time you level up, you gain 5 attribute points. These can be used to increase the various attributes; STR, DEX, INT, SPR, CON, and LUK. More information on these attributes will be displayed if you hover your mouse over the icons in the attribute window. You can reset your attributes for free, with a cooldown of 1 hour.
- At the start of the game, STR can be useful to level as it'll increase the damage of your basic attack. CON is also useful to provide a bit of tankiness.
Leveling Up
You level up by gaining EXP. There is a progress bar on your screen showing how close you are to the next level. Every time you level up you gain: A slight HP stat bonus, 5 attribute points, 1 skill point.
IMPORTANT NOTE: In Soul's Remnant it is possible to DOWNLEVEL. When you die in Soul's Remnant, you lose EXP. If you lose enough EXP to go below 0, you will go down a level. This means it is entirely possible to downlevel back to level 1, if you die enough times.
Skills
You can learn skills from the crafting menu (M). Skills require soul crystals, skill points, and sometimes specific items in order to be relearned. Once you learn a skill, you'll have it learned forever, but choose wisely because skill points are quite limited. If you end up not liking a skill, you can unlearn it with an item called the Book of Unlearning. You start the game with a few in your inventory, however you can only find more as rare drops within Dungeons. When you unlearn these skils, you lose all the levels and EXP associated with it.
Skills gain EXP by using them. For example, you can level damaging skills only by last hitting enemies with said skill, healing skills by healing yourself/allies, or buffing skills by hitting enemies with any physical skill while the buff is in use. Skills can also gain EXP through the use of Skill Books, which are also Dungeon drops. Some skills can only gain EXP with these books. Once a skill has enough EXP to level up, you must go into the crafting menu again to level them before you are able to gain any more EXP.
Dungeons
Dungeons look like a floating crystal. You can interact with them by pressing space. To enter a dungeon you will need to offer an item, as well as have a Dungeon Entry Pass of matching difficulty. The difficulty of the dungeon you enter is decided by the item you offer:
Item Rarity 1-3 | Normal Difficulty |
Item Rarity 4-6 | Hard Difficulty |
Item Rarity 7-9 | Extreme Difficulty |
The dungeon that you enter is procedurally generated based on the item you offer. This means that if you offer a different item, even if it has the same rarity, you will enter a dungeon with a different layout. However this also means that you can enter a familiar layout by offering the same item again after completing a Dungeon run. Keep in mind that these generated layouts do reset occasionally, so layouts will not be the same from one day to the next.
Upon entering a dungeon, everyone within the party will enter at the same time. However, if someone else were to offer the same item you used for your party to enter, they will join your instance of the Dungeon. This can be useful if a player dies and needs to re-enter the dungeon, or if you'd like to run a dungeon with more players than the default party size.
Death
When you die, you lose EXP, soul crystals, and items. How much you lose is dependent on how far you are in the Depths.
Item Loss: If you are in a dungeon, you lose a certain amount of items randomly - including any items you have equipped. The amount you lose is dependent on the difficulty of the dungeon:
Normal (1-3) | No items lost |
Hard (4-6) | 1 item lost |
Extreme (7-9) | 2 items lost |
It is possible to prevent items from being lost by blessing it with a craftable item (you do not have the recipe for this item at the start of the game). If an item that is blessed is chosen to be lost, it will instead lose it's blessing.
EXP loss: You lose 8% of your current level's EXP. This can be reduced by your LUK stat.
Soul Crystal loss: You lose 3% of your soul crystals.
You will be warped back to spawn upon death.
