Grinding Guide

Skill Ratio* is the amount of Skill EXP given divided by Hitpoints.

Player Ratio is the amount of Player EXP given divided by Hitpoints.

*This table lists Skill EXP as the amount gained upon killing the monster, and Skill Ratio is based off of this amount. Certain skills gain Skill EXP differently. For example, Taunt gains Skill EXP upon newly aggro'ing the attention of a monster by using Taunt, and the amount of Skill EXP it gains depends on the maximum hitpoints of that monster.

Shiny

From +1 to +87!
Slimes to the left, rare Shiny Slime to the right.

There is a small chance that a Shiny monster can spawn. Shiny monsters are larger, give off a particle effect, have an increased drop rate for the items it typically drops, and provide several times more Skill EXP and Player EXP upon being defeated. In some cases, 87 times as much!

Make the most of this knowledge, and make sure to defeat Shiny monsters with newly upgraded skills so you don't waste the Skill EXP!

Aggro

When nearing monsters, an exclamation point may appear above their head shortly before they begin to chase and attack you. This is referred to as gaining aggro, and what monsters you will automatically gain aggro from is determined by your Player Level. As a rule of thumb, the more difficult an enemy, the higher your level has to be in order to avoid automatically gaining their aggro.

As you level, you will find that enemies that used to attack you first chance they get may now ignore you. That being said, there is still contact damage, so stay vigilant!

Aggro can be gained by simply attacking a monster, or by using the Taunt skill. Currently, aggro will always go to the last player that hit a monster.

Research

Monsters will be registered in the order you acquire their essence, from left to right.

While hunting monsters, you will occasionally see them drop something that does not appear in their drop table. Something other than the usual soul crystal, and much rarer than that. This squiggly little ball of information is that monster's essence, and the more of a monster's essence you accumulate, the more information you will have of them in your Research (B) tab. A higher level of research also increases the amount of EXP you gain from killing them, as well as increases drop rate. The highest level of research for a monster is level 4.

Research Level 1 (1 essence):
Acquiring your first essence will register that monster into your Research tab. At a cursory glance, you will be able to see that monster's sprite and your current Research level for them. Mousing over the monster will tell you how many essences for that monster that you have picked up. Upon clicking on the monster's square, another window will appear called "Monster Info" in which you will see their name and how many of them you have killed. There will be a lot of ???s, which will progressively be replaced with information after reaching higher levels of Research.

Level 4 research for Soulpling.

Research level 2 (5 essence):
Mousing over the monster's square will now tell you how much bonus EXP and bonus Drop Rate you have when killing them. + EXP, + Drop Rate. Monster Info will now include the monster's stats and element typing. You can mouse over the colored circle to be given the element in text.

Research level 3 (10 essence):
Monster Info will tell you what map(s) the monster can be found in. + EXP, + Drop Rate.

Research level 4 (20 essence):
And finally, at Research level 4, you will be given the monster's drop table. Mousing over an item will give you the item's drop rate for that monster. + EXP, + Drop Rate.
